"Hidden Cycle", BFA installation. This piece is a reflection on the inner psychological turmoil of women that are scarred from domestic violence. Within a context of domesticity, these materials portray the immobilizing feelings of pain and fear that stop women for leaving abusive relationships. I have altered this apron’s surface with sewing pins. Each pin serves as a reminder of the escalating numbers of families affected by this issue. The background represents the confining domestic space of the home, where these women get trapped and slowly deteriorate submersed in a cycle hard to exit.
